Description
While Kolkata is famous for its classic Mishti Doi, the true connoisseurs of Bengali sweets know that the holy city of Nabadwip (in the Nadia district) holds a secret that is even richer, creamier, and more historic.
Introducing the Nabadwip Special Kheer Dahi—often revered as the “King of Yogurts.” This is not just a dessert; it is a culinary heritage from the land of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Distinctly different from regular sweet curds, Kheer Dahi is celebrated for its brick-red color (Lal Doi) and a texture so dense that it is locally known as “Chakku Doi” (Knife Yogurt)—because you can literally slice it with a knife!
Our Kheer Dahi is sourced/made using these authentic, age-old techniques:
-
Pure Cow Milk Blend: For that extra fat content required for the “Kheer” texture.
-
Long Fermentation: Set in porous earthen pots (Matir Haari) which absorb every drop of excess moisture, ensuring the final product is solid and creamy.
-
Perfect Sweetness: It is intensely sweet, yet the caramelized undertones prevent it from being cloying.
Nabadwip is a city of temples, and for centuries, this Kheer Dahi has been offered as Bhog (offering) to deities and served to pilgrims. When you order this sweet, you are partaking in a tradition that dates back over a hundred years.
